About Me!

Being a university student, cooking delicious meals on a budget can be hard, students usually fall in the dark hole of Pot Noodle and pesto pasta. Cooking for one is also difficult without wasting food or eating the exact same meals on repeat, having variety is key to a happy food-related life. We also do not have the time, effort or patience to spend hours cooking a day - I am here to show you how to avoid the bore on a budget.

My on the left, eating spinach?

Growing up, I was born into being a vegetarian so that is my norm, a common misconception is that veggies only eat vegetables and never get any protein. Protein doesn't only lie within meats and fish, there are many vegetarian foods with high enough protein to survive without spending £4 on chicken breast. Throughout my teenage years I have fluctuated in and out of eating meat so sometimes I do eat meat. But I would best describe myself as a pescatarian as I love an adoration for salmon - although that is actually too expensive!

A huge secret to affordable is a clubcard, if you have a Tesco near you please get a clubcard! The deals you can get really can work wonders and getting a £4.50 voucher from your points comes in handy. I hit the jackpot with uni supermarkets with a big Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Home Bargains and Poundland all within a 5 minute walk of my student house - but obviously everyone is not that lucky which I can appreciate.

TooGoodToGo is definitely something to jump on if you can!

Throughout this journey I am going to teach myself, discovering weird and wonderful foods to cook with that you or I might not have considered before. When I started my university degree I also became a server as Wagamama, eating out can be ruled out for some students as money has to be allocated elsewhere. Throughout my year working there I have learnt the tricks of the trade to making some of the veggie dishes for over half the price which I would be happy to share!
